Margaret Blair Grant, a tireless volunteer in the Kennedy Park area, has been selected as the recipient of a $2,500 prize package which includes Latin dance classes, a professional make-over and a photo-shoot, from The Baila Boogaloo Dance Co., DLM Dance & Entertainment, Bedlington Photography, ANAs faces, Canyon Creek, Taste of the Silk Road and more!
Workers at On-Track for Women and On-Track Career & Employment Services (Malvern), nominated Grant for the award.
In her nomination letter, Grant is lauded as “a silent hero, one who isn’t given to seeking the spotlight, but so deserving of this award.” She is further described as a kind and loving woman who lights up a room with her gentle smile and caring demeanor.
The nomination letter shared how the mother and grandmother volunteers at many events and functions including the Corvette School Council, the Dorset Park Art Program, and 41 Division’s Community Police Liaison Committee and how she’s always ready to serve her community not only as an advocate but as a compassionate friend. Grant recently reached out to comfort her neighbors when there was a murder-suicide in her community spending hours just talking to her neighbors to offer a friendly word in a time of deep crisis.
For these many reasons, The Baila Boogaloo Dance Co. and friends have chosen Margaret Blair Grant as the winner of our $2,500 Local Hero prize package, part of our continuing efforts to give back to the community.
